Like a Bitch with No Ass...

BOOTIEUSA's Best of Bootie 2008 has arrived. I have yet to fully digest it, but BOOTIE USA's releases are consistantly pretty great. Plus, they've included my favorite mashup of 2008 - The Hood Internet's "Shut Up American Boy," mashing up Estelle & Kanye West with the Ting Tings. Download it here. There's a lot of bullshit with mashup compilations usually... a lot of novelty fat that should have been left on the lap-top where the DJ first got high and thought it'd be a "badass idea." But with Bootie's releases, they seem to know enough about what goes into a good mashup to be able to cut out the mediocrity.

Also available is the third MYSPLICE compilation presented by Stereogum and team9. Bootie is definately the priority, if your God only allows you one mash-up collections per year, but I'd recommend making room on your ipod for it, if only for "Bang on a Milli" which blends Lil Wayne with the Breeders. And team9 needs a goddamn medal for thinking of mixing "Love Lockdown" with "Gimme Shelter."
